LOST: it’s a love/hate relationship
Well, well, well. If it isn’t my old friend LOST. What happened to you? You used to be so full of intriguing scientific twists, engaging sci-fi story lines and interesting sciency characters. You’ve changed man, you’ve changed.
First of all, what the hell has happened to Dharma. I loved Dharma. But it seems the makers don’t feel they’re so important any more. I remember the good old days when everything basically came back to Dharma, no matter how weird. The stations were a fantastic idea. Everything seemed to have a plausible scientific (at least at a science-fiction level) explanation. Even if it wasn’t actually explained yet, it seemed we would get there in the end. The black smoke: crazy cloud of electronic nano machines, are we?
No. No you’re not. You’re some mythical evil god-thing, or so it seems. Yes, I may be jumping to conclusions considering that the series hasn’t even finished yet but it just pisses me off sometimes how the show has basically gone from a sci-fi drama, to a mythical one, without any sort of connecting bridge. I wouldn’t mind the whole mythical ‘gods controlling the island’ (or so it seems for now) thing if had been that from the start. But it changed! Sure we heard about Jacob but things always came back to Dharma, which was great in my opinion. Remember that weird brainwashing film the Others used?
I guess what it all comes down to is this: Should science-fiction ever evolve into mythology, and vice versa?
